About ‘Sweet October’

Reflective thoughts, reminiscent moments and perfect days spent with loved ones that even the rain, could not dampen. The beauty in the light, in the sunsets found in Sweet October Skies. Travel and touring the world has inspired the Liberties born vocalist and songwriter Aoife Scott, but her own country always produces the sweetest sentiment as on this her latest song offering. This Song Co-written with her partner, lyricist and guitarist Dubliner Andy Meaney has brought out the moments of just ‘being’, time precious gratitude that we sometimes miss in life but with these words Aoife delicately reminds us that these moments are there and to be treasured. This song comes from a conversation with friends and a shared love of the West coast of Ireland and those times spent with loved ones on life’s journey.

Recorded in her home town of Dublin, when driving across the city could find you at a checkpoint, “And your purpose of travel is”? Aoife and Andy set off with readiness to put forward their reasons, their duty, to write, their calling and purpose to lay down this track as it was as important to them as all the headlines and all the bad-news bulletins that filled the airwaves. The Arts and the life of a touring musician may be on hold but the craft and creativity will find a way through and shine that light on how important music can be to us in preserving moments and giving us the spirit to live through it all.

2020 has shone a light on the important human aspect of connection as we find ourselves locked down and socially distanced, this song goes beyond the rules, the regulations and finds the true connection we seek in each other. Written and recorded during this time apart brings an even stronger emphasis on the theme of the song, with all international touring grounded for Aoife and her band, she found the space to pen this song and bring hope to this world we find ourselves living in.
